2024 Butterfly Release Memorial Details:

Sunday, June 2, 2024 | 1:00 – 3:30 PM
Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch
5704 Paseo Del Norte, Carlsbad, CA 92008

At the Butterfly Release Memorial, we gather to celebrate the lives of the loved ones lost, while enriching our own lives through the grieving experience. In grief, we have the power to mirror the transformational journey of the caterpillar to butterfly by deconstructing the life we once knew, and rebuilding it into a life we desire and love.

Set in the beautiful Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch, the family-friendly Butterfly Release Memorial will remind you of renewal, hope, the healing power of community, and the promise of your own transformation.

The event and parking are free. Admission includes a butterfly (max 5 per family). A suggested donation of $25 per family helps support the mission of our nonprofit hospice.

Please reserve your spot for one or both activities:

1:00 PM Expressive Arts Workshop (Optional Activity. Limited Space)

2:30 PM Formal Butterfly Release Program

Please fill out the following prompt to be used by our artists in a special project during the main event:

Agenda

1:00 PM - Expressive Arts Workshop:

Unveiling Your Loved One's Legacy Through Storytelling

In this interactive transformative expressive arts workshop, you will share stories and memories of your loved ones through storytelling. Participants will explore the profound legacies left behind by their cherished family members and friends. Join us for a healing journey of honoring, celebrating, and sharing the timeless legacies of those who have touched our lives before releasing a butterfly in their memory. No previous experience in arts or storytelling is necessary.

2:30 PM - Formal Musical Program and Butterfly Release

The butterfly offers a powerful metaphor for transition. In grief, we don’t have a choice about going into the cocoon. However, we do have the power to decide whether or not to transform. We invite you to allow the musical program to connect you with memories and emotions on a deep level, and to allow the butterfly to remind you that in grief you can take flight.
